John Mayer “can’t take his eyes off” Eva Longoria

Latest rumors talk about a possible crush that John Mayer has on the “Desperate Housewife”.

“John is crazy about Eva,” a friend of the Playboy revealed. “There is something about newly-divorced ladies that drives him nuts, according to PopEater. He was the same way over Jessica [Simpson] when she left Nick [Lachey], and now he has his eye on Eva.”

Besides Jessica Simpson, Mayer has also been linked to Jennifer Aniston and, for a short period of time, Taylor Swift.

After three years of marriage, Eva Longoria filed for divorce from NBA star Tony Parker after she discovered he had been exchanging texts with a mutual female friend for nearly a year.

However, Longoria seems to be in need of a break to settle things up before moving on to a new relationship.

“No way is Eva thinking of another man right now,” a friend of the actress said. “Mayer can send all the flowers in the world and even show up under her window with his guitar and it would make no difference. Eva wants some alone time. She is still heartbroken about her marriage falling apart.”

Touchscreen that changes its texture when touched

The technology involves the use of plastic cells, no larger than a pixel on the screen, that respond to the application of ultraviolet light with different wavelengths by changing the shape and texture of the surface that make it up.

The screen area covered with this material can physically display items such as buttons, menus or the edges of an application window, giving the user a tactile sensation that reflects the elements displayed.

If Microsoft manages to put into practice this recently patented the discovery, we will soon be able to navigate on the touch screen interface without the need to look at the images displayed on the screen, feeling the buttons and menu items in the same way we use traditional phone keypad.

Surprisingly or not, Microsoft’s invention is not unique in the world, as similar technologies are being developed by other companies such as Nokia, Senseg and Carnegie Mellon University.

We will see which of these companies have the most successful implementation and resources needed to develop a commercial version, viable in terms of manufacturing costs.

Tony Parker’s lawyer says bye-bye

The lawyer, named Richard Orsinger, was hired by Tony in November.

However, what he didn’t know back then was that there was a disturbing connection between Parker and another one of his clients, namely Brent Barry, Parker’s former San Antonio Spurs teammate and ex-husband of Erin Barry, the woman with whom Tony allegedly cheated on Eva.

Orsinger reportedly saw it as a conflict of interest to rep both Parker and Barry and consequently decided to quit. Parker is now searching for another lawyer as the divorce is still moving on.

Madonna’s first Hard Candy gym opens in Mexico City

The name of the sports chain, “Hard Candy”, comes from her eleventh studio album, which topped the charts around the world in 2008.

“It’s a sexy name that gives you the opportunity to have fun and to build strength as far as the imagination will allow,” the singer said.

On this occasion, Madonna was greeted by the mayor of Mexico City, Marcelo Ebrard. Located in an upscale neighborhood of the capital, this new sports complex offers almost 3,200 m2 of facilities.

Forbidden to the press, the gym is decorated with photos of the singer, including a giant poster of her latest album “Celebration”. The cost of the annual subscription is 600 euros.

This club is the first in a long list because investors have already announced the imminent opening of other centers “in Russia, Brazil, Argentina, and throughout Europe and Asia.”

Bosnian rape victims protest at UN against the film directed by Angelina Jolie

“Angelina Jolie’s ignorant attitude towards victims says enough about the scenario and gives us the right to continue having doubts about it,” the Women Victims of War (WVW) association said in a letter published Monday

In this letter, addressed to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, a position that the American actress represents as goodwill ambassador, the Bosnian association members said they were “deeply concerned”.

The American actress, who is making her directorial debut with this film, shot most of the scenes in Hungary, from early October until mid-November.

After some problems with obtaining the shooting authorization in Bosnia, the war victims’ associations pressure local authorities, and just panoramic scenes are made in Bosnia, in the absence of the actress.

According to the official synopsis, the film’s central theme is that of a love story during the war in Bosnia (1992 – 1995), between a Serb guard in a prison camp, who makes great efforts to protect his former girlfriend, and a Muslim woman imprisoned there.

But rumors about the screenplay, amplified in the local press, have provoked harsh reactions from the associations of victims of war in this country.

Angelina Jolie has asked to meet with members of this organization, “to clarify these misunderstandings”, but the meeting never took place.

According to association president, Bakir Hasecic, the members of the association were invited by Jolie to Budapest to meet during filming, but the invitation was declined.

“The killings have occurred here in Bosnia, and we want to meet here,” Bakir said Hasecic.

Angelina Jolie has said she will direct and star in a film whose action takes place during the war in Bosnia (1992 – 1995), in a statement released in August, by the UNHCR.

The war in Bosnia had around 100,000 people dead and several thousand women were raped during the conflict, according to international organizations.

“Partridge Family” star David Cassidy pleads not guilty to DUI

On November 3, a patrol officer pulled him over after he was observed making an erratic lane change in his Mercedes. The TV star was reportedly unsteady on his feet and blew a 0.139 and 0.141 in two Breathalyzer tests. The state’s legal blood alcohol content level is 0.08.

Cassidy was returning from an early-morning funeral, and claimed he had had a hydrocodone pill for back pain, but denied being drunk.

If he is convicted, David risks facing up to 6 months in jail and a $1,000 maximum fine.

Yesterday, the Florida Highway Patrol released a video of the actor failing a field sobriety test.

Johnny Depp about Angelina Jolie: “wonderfully kind of dark, perverse sense of humor”

“Meeting her and getting to know her was a real pleasant surprise,” Depp, 47, said about his partner in the upcoming film “The Tourist”.

“You don’t know what she might be like – if she has any sense of humor at all. I was so pleased to find that she is incredibly normal,” he added, “and has a wonderfully kind of dark, perverse sense of humor.”

Depp even went as far as comparing her with Elizabeth Taylor.

“I’ve had the honor and the pleasure and gift of having known Elizabeth Taylor for a number of years,” Depp says. “You know, you sit down with her, she slings hash, she sits there and cusses like a sailor, and she’s hilarious. Angie’s got the same kind of thing, you know, the same approach.”

Johnny revealed that Angelina is constantly watched and they had to make efforts on the set not to seem too close in order to avoid any speculation.

“Poor thing, dogged by paparazzi, her and her husband, Brad [Pitt] … all their kids,” he says. “There are times when you see how ridiculous is this life, how ludicrous it is, you know, leaving your house every morning and being followed by paparazzi.”

During the interview, Depp discussed Disney executives’ reaction to his performance in “The Pirates of the Caribbean” movies. The actor revealed that the former head of Disney, Michael Eisner, wasn’t convinced by his interpretation of Jack Sparrow. Eisner even went as far as questioning Johnny Depp about his condition when he shot the film. He raised the possibility that the actor was under the influence of alcohol. In addition, the former leader asked if Depp was gay. In turn, the actor jokingly responded “Didn’t you know all my characters are gay?”

Regarding future projects, Depp added, “[Marlon Brando said,] Why don’t you just take a year and go and study Shakespeare, or go and study Hamlet. Go and work on Hamlet and play that part. Play that part before you’re too old … And I would like to. I’d really, really like to.”

Kate Gosselin feels “sad and lonely”

A friend of hers who spoke out to RadarOnline said Kate feels depressed as she doesn’t have true friends to confide in.

“The truth is Kate is really sad and lonely with few true friends,” the source said.

When she isn’t filming or caring for her children, she’s often seen at the nail spa or the tanning salon, or traveling to New York to get her hair done.

“Even her kids have noticed that their mom is sometimes too tired to play with them when the cameras are not rolling,” the source said.

“Her bodyguard Steve Neild is the closest person to her, but he’s married with two kids of his own.”

“Steve lives in the basement of her home and he accompanies Kate everywhere, but they strongly deny that there is anything going on between them despite the fact that they have taken trips to Alaska and to Mexico together.”

Adds the source: “Apart from Steve she does not have many true friends to confide in or just go out and have fun with while she does not have the best relationship with her family either.”

Moreover, people of Reading, Pa, where she currently resides, have turned against her.

“They don’t think greatly of her and she is not popular at the local stores, post office or car wash, because she cannot win people over and comes across as cold and aloof,” Kate’s friend said.

“Kate just finds it hard to be friendly towards people and is very domineering – at the moment she is pre-occupied with looking her best and keeping-up appearances.”

The insider tries to blame it on the busy life this mom-of-eight is having. “Kate’s life revolves around her kids and the reality show… when have you ever seen Kate photographed having fun on a girls’ night out?

“The paparazzi are camped outside her home a lot of the time and often she will just not go out which is sad for her kids too.”

“Kate has money coming in but nobody to share it with – having her own reality show has come with a price for her but ultimately that was her own choice.”

Kate divorced her reality husband Jon and even battled in court with him for the rights to continue doing the show on the TLC network.

Despite having to do with marriage dissolution, rumors of affairs and more recently having three of her kids expelled from school, Kate insists it’s “financially necessary” to go on with the show.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight she said, “My kids would fall apart if we didn’t.”

Anne Hathaway and James Franco are hosting the Oscars in 2011

This will be the second time James Franco appears on stage at the ceremony. The actor has the title role in Danny Boyle’s latest film, “127 hours”. He was recently seen in “Eat, pray, love”, ” General Hospital ” and especially the role of Harry Osborne in the trilogy “Spiderman”.

Anne Hathaway, who will make her fifth appearance at the ceremony, is currently starring in the film “Love and other drugs.”

“James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons – fresh, exciting and multi-talented,” explained Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer, the producers of the event to be held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.

“We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world on Feb. 27,” reports People.

This year’s annual ceremony was hosted by actors Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. In 2009, the choice of the Australian actor Hugh Jackman had created a stir by breaking with the long tradition of comic actors as Oscar hosts.

Leslie Nielsen dies at 84

He died in a hospital near his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, surrounded by his wife, Barbaree, and friends at 5:34 p.m. EST.

Nielsen is probably best known for playing the bumbling cop Lieutenant Frank Drebin in the “Naked Gun” franchise.

Nielsen may have chosen an acting career as a reaction to the strict upbringing that his father, a police officer of Danish origin, imposed on him, in a small village in northern Canada. Some of his biographers claim that he discovered his talent by lying to her father to avoid a spanking.

He studied at the Academy of Radio Arts in Toronto founded by Lorne Greene – made famous by the series Bonanza – then landed a scholarship at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York.

Tall – 1.84 m high -, blond and masculine good looks, he seemed destined for a career as a leading man. He starred in “Peyton Place”, in “Dr. Kildare” and about 150 other episodes of TV soap operas in New York before migrating to Hollywood. He continued to play dramatic roles, including villains and tyrants – his movie and television career spanning more than 60 years- but he is best known for his humor off camera.

Thus his international career took off with “Airplane!”, a film by brothers David and Jerry Zucker and their friend Jim Abrahams, a hilarious string of madcap spoof movies, launched in 1980.

For “The Naked Gun” franchise, creators Jim Abrahams, Jerry Zucker and David Zucker – who had previously worked with Nielsen on “Airplane!” – made a feature packed with slapstick action and double-entendres.

Married three times, having two daughters, living in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, he continued to act until recent years.

“Doing nothing is very difficult,” he said once, “because you never know when it’s over.”

After being hospitalized for twelve days for lung problems, he saw his condition worsening over the past 48 hours.

Sunday Afternoon, “with his friends and his wife at his side Barbaree, he just fell asleep and died,” reported his nephew Doug Nielsen.

Many actors and film critics have paid tribute on Twitter, still recalling his famous line as Dr. Rumack in “Airplane!”: “Can you fly this plane, and land it?,” he asks a passenger. “Surely, you can’t be serious,” the passenger exclaims.

“I am serious, and don’t call me Shirley,” Rumack replies.
