“Survivor” and “Pimp My Ride” producer, Bruce Beresford-Redman, arrested

The body of Monica Beresford-Redman was found Thursday, April 8, 2010, in a sewer at the Moon Palace resort in Cancun, where the family was vacationing, said Bello Rodriguez, counsel for the State of Quintana Roo, which depends on the city of Cancun.

Beresford-Redman was detained as a suspect. The cause of death has not been determined.

Police said his wife left the hotel the previous day and never returned. A security guard from the hotel saw the couple arguing on Monday and Bruce Beresford-Redman tried to hit his wife, said Rodriguez, according to The Associated Press.

Beresford-Redman became a person of interest in the case from early on. He returned to the United States against the wishes of Mexican authorities who had confiscated his passport.

U.S. Marshals arrested him “without incident” at his home in Rancho Palos Verdes, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office says. Mexican authorities had requested his arrest.

According to his Imdb.com profile, Beresford-Redman has produced 20 episodes of the Emmy nominated reality TV series Survivor in 2000.

The website also credited him as the creator of Pimp My Ride, the MTV car makeover, and as executive producer of several episodes of “Crash Course”, another reality TV series.
