Vanessa Hudgens vs. Kristen Stewart

Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Anne Hudgens is an actress, dancer and singer, born December 14, 1988, in Salinas, California. She is particularly known for playing the role of Gabriella Montez in Disney’s “High School Musical”.

Her father is of Irish and Native American descent, while her mother is of Chinese-Filipino-Spanish descent. Her love for music and drama comes from her grandparents, who were musicians.

She began her theatrical career as a musician at the age of 8, appearing in plays such as “The Wizard of Oz”, “Evita”, “Carousel” and “Cinderella”. After moving with her family to Los Angeles, she obtained small roles in the independent drama film “Thirteen”, the sci-fi “Thunderbirds” or a few television series such as Quintuplets, Still Standing, The Brothers García, Drake & Josh, and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. On the set of the latter, she met Ashley Tisdale, something which allows her to land her breakout role as Gabriella Montez in Disney’s “High School Musical”.

Like the rest of the cast, she participated in the soundtrack of the TV movie, on which she sings on six tracks. She shared a Teen Choice Award for Best Screen Couple with Zac Efron. Efrn and Hudgens also formed a couple in real life.

In 2007, she resumed her role as Gabriella Montez in High School Musical 2, released in August on the American channel Disney Channel. She also won a Teen Choice Awards for Best Female Breakout Artist.

In 2008, she reprised her role as Gabriella Montez in High School Musical 3.

In 2009, Hudgens said she wanted to focus on films, and take a break from her musical career as a solo performer. She obtained a supporting role in the musical “Bandslam”, which was released in theaters on August 14, 2009. Vanessa plays “Sa5m”, a 15 year-old rookie, with awkward talent. Although “Bandslam” was a commercial failure, Hudgens’ performance has received critical acclaim.

She was then recruited in an action film directed by Zack Snyder, “Sucker Punch”, where she plays Blondie, which is due out in March 2011.

In December 2006, Vanessa released a solo album on Hollywood Records, entitled “V”. She states that V, which is associated with her name, comes from “variety” as her album mixes all types of music (ballads, pop, etc.). The album sold over 500,000 copies in one year in the United States.

In 2007, Vanessa was involved in a huge scandal when a series of photos showing her naked leaked on the internet.

“I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me,” Hudgens said in a statement. “I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends.”

On December 14, Vanessa celebrated her 22nd birthday with Ashley Tisdale and actress Brittany Snow.

Despite her recent separation from Zac Efron after a four-year relationship, Hudgens told People magazine that 2010 was a “good year”, adding that she and Efron remained good friends.

“We’re good,” she said Saturday night, while giving the thumbs up.

“It’s going to be a very, very busy year,” she said about 2011. “I have three movies coming out in the next year, so I’m excited to see what the future is going to hold.”

Kristen Stewart

Kristen Jaymes Stewart, an American actress, was born April 9, 1990 in Los Angeles.

Kristen’s carreer started at the age of eight, after an agent saw her performance at the Christmas show at her elementary school. Her first role is a very short one in a Disney production, “The Thirteenth Year”.

In 2003, Kristen appeared in “Panic Room” alongside Jodie Foster. In the movie, she embodies the dark and diabetic daughter of a divorced mother, played by Foster. While the film received mixed reviews, Kristen was acclaimed for her performance and even received a nomination at the Young Artist Awards.

On November 16, 2007, Summit Entertainment announced that she would play Bella Swan in the upcoming movie “Twilight, Chapter I: Twilight”, based on the bestseller by Stephenie Meyer, dealing with a love story between a human and a vampire.
