A death whose causes are unknown and which has been kept secret by the will of her relatives.
The young woman had become a symbol of the fight against anorexia, an illness she had been suffering from since she was 13, by posing naked for a 2007 “No Anorexia” campaign. She weighed about 31 kg per 1 m 64.
The image of her emaciated body was meant to shock and allow her to draw attention to this disease in the media.
“I thought this could be a chance to use my suffering to get a message across, and finally put an image on what thinness represents and the danger it leads to — which is death,” she told AFP in 2007.
This image has been like a shock to the young woman herself. “Since the photo I took 3 kg. I’m healthier and I want to beat me, “she told us a few months after the campaign. She had testified in “The girl who would not grow,” a poignant book released in May 2008.
Isabelle Caro had fought vigorously against her illness and announced in March 2010 that she had reached the weight of 42 kg, a victory for the one who fell into a coma in 2006, while weighing only 25 kg.
Her boyfriend, Swiss singer Vincent Bigler, said the model spent about two weeks in hospital with acute respiratory disease before her passing. He said that he did not know the cause of death though. Dubreuil-Prevot, Caro’s longtime teacher, said she “had been sick for a long time.”
