Top Best Actress Oscars 2011: Annette Bening, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams

The Academy Awards nominations have been announced on January 25 and the list revealed some of the finest actresses in Hollywood battling for the coveted statuette. Before the long-awaited ceremony takes place, InRumor challenges you to have a guess at this year’s candidates for Best Actress.

Annette Bening in “The Kids Are All Right”

Three-time Oscar-nominated (The Grifters, American Beauty, Being Julia), Bening is seen gives powerful interpretations. Her performance in “The Kids Are All Right” is an example. Her character is strong, sober but significant, and the film is highly appreciated. She’s a favorite this year.

Critic David Edelstein: “Annette Bening has a genius for a kind of ‘existential’ acting—for illuminating the chink (or moat, or abyss) between a person’s front and the quivering creature underneath, desperately trying to hold the mask in place.”

Nicole Kidman in “Rabbit Hole”

Nicole is no stranger to Oscar nominations but it was her performance in The Hours that garnered her first Academy Award for Best Actress. Rabbit Hole has received positive reviews in particular for Kidman and Wiest’s performances. Noted as Kidman’s best dramatic performance to date, many critics say Kidman is award-worthy in her work.

Critic Kirk Honeycutt: “Kidman grabs the central focus of the story as the more distraught of the two. The performance is riveting because she essentially plays the entire film at two levels, the surface everyday life and then what is turning over and over again in her mind.”

Jennifer Lawrence in “Winter’s Bone”

A newcomer of the year, Jennifer Lawrence takes the lead role, frequently cited as a “breakout performance”, in Debra Granik’s Winter’s Bone. The film is considered Lawrence’s breakthrough performance, seen as strong, compelling and apt for a statuette.

Critic Peter Travers: “In Lawrence, Granik has found just the right young actress to inhabit Ree. Her performance is more than acting, it’s a gathering storm.”

Natalie Portman in “Black Swan”

Nominated in the past for Best Supporting Actress for Closer, Portman hasn’t had until now a leading role that would allow her to flirt with the Oscar race for Best Actress. She has done that now with “Black Swan”, by director Darren Aronofsky. The film is applauded by many critics for the excellent performance of Natalie Portman. Many experts are already seeing the next favorite at the Oscars.

Critic David Edwards: “While the film is near-perfect, it’s a tribute to Portman that she outshines everyone else as the frail, brittle ballerina who is slowly but surely losing it.”

Michelle Williams in “Blue Valentine”

Nominated in 2006 for Best Supporting Actress for Brokeback Mountain, Michelle Williams comes out of a success (Shutter Island) and is carried by the buzz of Blue Valentine. Her performance in Blue Valentine is noteworthy for its intensity as well as her ability to render inner experience in detail.

Critic Catherine Bray: A rarely cheery but carefully crafted look at flawed and all-too human behavior, worth seeing for Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling’s sincere, intelligent performances.

The Kardashians talk plastic surgery and Twitter on Piers Morgan show

While we already knew that Kim is a botox addict, with her latest photos posted on Twitter proving that she has little left of a natural woman, she told Morgan that her chest is “completely, 100 percent real.” However, this isn’t the case with her sister who admitted to having implants.

The sisters also talked shopping. When asked what was the most extravagant thing they ever bought for themselves, Kim said she once dropped no fewer than $ 115,000 for a watch.

As for the talent that makes them deserve the spotlight, the sisters cited marketing and fashion as their skills.

“I would absolutely say that marketing is a skill and I think that fashion [is] as well,” Kim answered. “Each sister have been stylists at some point in our lives. We own three successful clothing stores.”

“So, when people call you talent-less, how do you react?” the host asked. “Does it hurt you?”

“It doesn’t hurt me,” Kourtney said. “I think people that know us, that watch our show, see that we work, see that we’re hard workers.

“I usually find the comments come from people that don’t watch our show or know anything about us,” Kourtney continued. “They might just see us in magazines or see our pictures on blogs and think that we’re just spoiled kids that don’t do anything and we just run around Hollywood and go to parties.”

Morgan also delved into politics with the three reality stars. To the question of “What would you say if I said, ‘Sarah Palin’?” Kourtney replied, “I just think, like, hunter. That’s just like the first thing that comes into my head.”

Kim also said Obama was the first presidential candidate to get her “motivated enough to vote.”

Speaking of Obama, when Morgan pointed out that all three are in the top 100 list of people being followed on Twitter worldwide, Kourtney being number 72, Khloe number 47, and Kim, with 6 million followers, as the sixth-most followed, she’s competing with President Barack Obama.

Kourtney said Twitter is “the best decision-maker,” as she Tweets everything from potential perfume bottle designs, to outfit or dinner dilemmas. Morgan also asked the girls if there is anything about their lives that is off-limits.

“Relationships,” Kim answered. “I only show very little bits and pieces.” When asked if she was “in love” with New Jersey Nets player Kris Humphries, Kim responded: “I think that this time around, I am really trying to keep things a little bit more private than I have in the past.”

Why Bristol Palin won’t talk about abstinence at Washington University

However, “because of the growing controversy among undergraduates over the decision to pay for her talk with student-generated funds” her college sex talk was cancelled. reports Palin, 20, who became pregnant with her son Tripp at age 17, had been invited by the Student Health Advisory Committee to talk about abstinence as part of the University’s Student Sexual Responsibility Week.

Due to students’ protests against the use of student-generated money to fund Bristol’s fee, her appearance was cancelled.

“It’s not necessarily in opposition to the ideas that are being presented,” said Philip Thomas, the student who started the protest. “People are getting so angry because of the opposition to Palin’s lack of expertise and the high cost she is charging.”

Another student, Ryan McCombe, created a Facebook petition protesting Palin’s appearance, and gathered 102 members in 24 hours, as well as some pretty harsh complaints.

“Bristol Palin got pregnant at 17, and rose to fame on none of her own merits, only the fact that her mother ran for Vice President, she has zero credentials in this area, and costs a ton of money,” one member wrote.

“I am against Bristol Palin coming to WashU for a number of reasons, not first of which is that it could be paying for some genuine education. Also, this is a place of learning and Abstinence programs were created in reaction and as a replacement for sex-education,” adds another member.

Palin’s will be replaced on the panel by Dr. Katie Plax, associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine.

Official: First images of the new Mercedes C63 AMG facelift

Although there is approximately one month left before the opening of the Geneva Motor Show, a series of official pictures reveal the new aspect of the performance model C63 AMG in its sedan and wagon versions. Subjected to a general facelift too, the sports sedan and its brother Estate feature a new design, almost entirely copied from the standard version of the mid-range model.

Differences are given by the redesigned bumper with larger air intakes, the LED lights positioned on the front bumper, the new radiator grille and grille’s chrome line.

The facelift for the sports version brings mechanical enhancements as well. The 6.3-liter V8 engine has a Controlled Efficiency Programme, available on the automatic transmission with seven reports. The eight-cylinder unit develops 463 horsepower and 600 Nm, sufficient resources to ensure a sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.5 seconds.

The top speed remains limited to the 250 km / h. Due to the new Controlled Efficiency system, the average consumption is reduced to 12 liters per 100 kilometers.

The performance of the acceleration can be improved by 0.2 seconds, if you opt for the AMG Performance Pack. The kit climbs the power of the value to 487 horse power and comes with a series of fine aesthetic details: brake calipers painted in red, carbon fiber inserts, AMG sport steering wheel and Nappa and Alcantara leather upholstery.

“Demi came back to L.A. earlier this week,” a source close to the star said. “She completed her prescribed treatment and an outpatient program near the treatment facility. For now, she is getting back to her regular routine and spending time with her family and close friends. Demi will continue to focus first and foremost on her well-being.”

American Idol contestant Chris Medina’s heartbreaking story

Juliana, Medina’s fiancée, was in an accident that left her with a traumatic brain injury two months before their wedding.

On the day they were supposed to get married, Chris posted a song he wrote for his love on Facebook.

“I’m giving all I’ve got to give/To Pull You through/To set you free/More than the vow/‘Through thick and thin’/I’m living it/In your darkest hour, I will be your light,” were some of the lyrics.

“Everything changed,” Medina said. “We’re still not married.”

After performing “Break Even,” Medina brought Juliana in a wheelchair into the studio, where all three judges greeted her and gave Medina the big news: he’s going to Hollywood.

“I just heard your fiancé sing,” Steven Tyler told Juliana. “He sings to you all the time. I could tell. That’s why he sings so good because he sings to you.”
