Lady Gaga and Lady Antebellum dominate the Grammy Awards 2011

The “Ladies” were honored Sunday night in Los Angeles, as the country music trio Lady Antebellum won five Grammy for their single and album Need You Now, including the Song of the Year, while Lady Gaga won the trophy for Best Female Vocal Performance, and Best Clip for Bad Romance, as well as Best Pop Album for The Monster Fame.

Lady Gaga can also boast of having the largest entry of the evening … she was carried in an egg!

The surprise of the evening was the victory of the group Arcade Fire, who won the Grammy for Album of the Year for The Suburbs, beating Eminem and Lady Antebellum who were favorites.

Jeff Beck, John Legend and Jay-Z have each won three awards, while The Black Keys and Usher each went away with two.

Eminem, who had been nominated in ten categories, returned with only two awards, and Justin Bieber didn’t even win. He lost the title of Best New Artist against Esperanza Spalding, and Pop Album of the Year against Lady Gaga.

During the evening, which was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Gwyneth Paltrow mounted on stage with Cee Lo Green and the Muppets to sing Forget You. Other stars performed at the ceremony, and they were Arcade Fire, Barbara Streisand, Dr. Dre, and Katy Perry, who had even requested that a wedding video is projected in the background.

In addition, Christina Aguilera, Martina McBride and Jennifer Hudson paid tribute to Aretha Franklin during the ceremony, with Aguilera nearly falling on stage at the end.
