Billy Ray, Miley’s father, told the press that the series Hannah Montana had “destroyed his family” and that he feared for his daughter, surrounded by people who put her “in a great deal of danger”. But the 18-year-old star didn’t appreciate his words very much.
Today, he obviously regrets his words, calling them “explosive, and unintentionally so” and admits he would love to pick up the pieces and keep a united family.
“It is very important to me to work on mending my family right now,” Billy Ray told People in an exclusive statement. “My family is the most important thing I have, and we are working together to make sure our future is stronger and healthier.”
“It is all a learning process, and we thank everyone for their support and respect of our privacy as we sort through very important family issues,” he says.
Miley, however, found her father’s words very disturbing and she’s reportedly “very hurt and angry,” according to a source close to their family.
“Maybe he can’t get the message of how much they mean to him across, and this is the way to do it,” the insiders says of Billy Ray’s comments.
Sources close to Miley say she has “seemed stressed, though she tries to hide it behind a constant smile.”
