“Two and a Half Men” is the most popular series in the United States. Created by Chuck Lorre and Lee Aronsohn and broadcast since 2003 on CBS, it recounts the life of a rich, unmarried and hedonistic jingle writer. His world of pleasure and excess is changed the day his brother, who had just divorced, invites himself at his home with his 10-year-old son for an indefinite period.
Charlie Sheen plays the lead role in the series and even appears in the top 10 favorite TV personalities in the US. However, due to his excesses of all sorts, CBS decided to reduce the season to 20 episodes instead of 24. The series was renewed a year ago for two more seasons, with Charlie being offered an ever more exorbitant salary.
But lately, everything crumbled.
Charlie Sheen’s antics finally led to his loss. In a bizarre radio interview, the actor slammed the creator of Two and a Half Men, Chuck Lorre, in addition to attacking the founding father Thomas Jefferson, his ex-wife and his p#!n pals.
CBS has had enough. On Thursday (February 24), the network announced the end of the show for the rest of the season. Nobody will return to work next Monday as scheduled.
“Based on the totality of Charlie Sheen’s statements, conduct and condition, CBS and Warner Bros. Television have decided to discontinue production of ‘Two and a Half Men’ for the remainder of the season,” a statement read.
Sheen, who received 2 million per episode, responded violently to the announcement. In an open letter sent to TMZ, he’s still slamming Chuck Lorre.
The letter reads:
What does this say about Haim Levine [Chuck Lorre] after he tried to use his words to judge and attempt to degrade me. I gracefully ignored this folly for 177 shows … I fire back once and this contaminated little maggot can’t handle my power and can’t handle the truth. I wish him nothing but pain in his silly travels especially if they wind up in my octagon. Clearly I have defeated this earthworm with my words — imagine what I would have done with my fire breathing fists. I urge all my beautiful and loyal fans who embraced this show for almost a decade to walk with me side-by-side as we march up the steps of justice to right this unconscionable wrong.
Remember these are my people … not yours…we will continue on together…
