Natalie Portman criticized by a former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee

Former U.S. presidential candidate Mike Huckabee went on ‘The Michael Medved Show’ on Monday, and criticized Natalie Portman for having a baby without being married.

“People see a Natalie Portman who boasts, ‘We’re not married, but we’re having these children, and they’re doing just fine.’ I think it gives a distorted image. It’s unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize the idea of out-of-wedlock children,” Huckabee explained.

The actress has been engaged since December to Benjamin Millepied, and the politician called this kind of pregnancy “troubling” as many single parents don’t afford to look after the baby as they don’t have the same resources as Natalie do.

“Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can’t get a job, and if it weren’t for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and never have health care. And that’s the story that we’re not seeing,” he said.

The radio host Michael Medved went further, stating that Millepied “didn’t give her the most wonderful gift, which would be a wedding ring!”
