Liam Neeson won’t star in Hangover 2

At first it was Mel Gibson who had been approached for the role, but he was ousted because of his legal and personal problems. Soon, it was announced that Liam Neeson would join the cast.

Neeson shot his scenes but now director Todd Phillips tells Variety that his appearance was cut during the editing.

The actor’s busy schedule was the reason for the cutting and now it is Nick Cassavetes who has taken over the role.

“We were in a complete time crunch, so I called Nick [Cassavetes] and asked if he would do the part,” Phillips says. “He came in and crushed it, and that is the scene that you will ultimately see in the film.”

Hangover 2 arrives in theaters May 26.
