At 11 am (local time) this morning Prince William married the beautiful Catherine Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge. Before more 1900 guests, including Victoria and David Beckham, Elton John and his husband David Furnish, the royal couple was united for better or for worse at Westminster Abbey in London. A very emotional moment eagerly awaited by the British.
Following the exchange of vows, the couple retired to Buckingham Palace, in the acclamation of the crowd and on board the royal carriage, the very one in which Lady Diana rode in 1981 at her wedding with Prince Charles.
Then, at exactly 1:25 p.m. (local time) Kate and William appeared on the balcony in the screams of fans. Between smiles and waves to the crowd, the couple stayed for many minutes under the eye of the world before finally kissing.
A fugitive but distinguished kiss. A royal kiss, that is. The public even had the opportunity to see a second kiss, which was not planned, but which was welcomed too.
