Daniel Radcliffe decides to quit past drinking problems

After realizing that he was partying a little too often, the Harry Potter star has decided to give up on alcohol.

Daniel Radcliffe said that his drinking had increased significantly in 2009 when he was filming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth installment of the franchise.

He acknowledged that his pleasure was dependent on alcohol, adding that he had fallen into the trap of believing that he could adopt the mundane lifestyle of a celebrity, an image which in reality doesn’t suit him.

“I became so reliant on [alcohol] to enjoy stuff,” he told GQ magazine. “There were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person’s lifestyle that really isn’t suited to me.”

Radcliffe decided to totally stop drinking, arguing that it can not be satisfied with a few drinks.

The actor has adapted to his lifestyle and decided to return to simpler things.

“There’s no shame in enjoying a quiet life. And that’s been the realization of the past few years for me,” he said. “As much as I would love to be a person that goes to parties and has a couple of drinks and has a nice time, that doesn’t work for me. I’d just rather sit at home and read, or go out to dinner with someone, or talk to someone I love, or talk to somebody that makes me laugh.”

The young Briton also admits he is very happy in his love life: “I’m actually enjoying the fact that I can have a relationship with my girlfriend where I’m really pleasant and not f—— up totally all the time.”
