After an absence of almost a year due to eating disorders and a rehab stint, Demi Lovato has released a new single Skyscraper on iTunes at midnight Tuesday.
Tomorrow, July 13, fans of the Disney star will also get the chance to see a teaser for the video of the song.
As the song was released, she tweeted about her excitement: “Yay!! It’s official! #Skyscraper is now on @itunesmusic … So excited for you guys to hear it!”
When fans and fellow celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, Brittany Snow, Hunter Parrish and Lucy Hale, tweeted their support, she responded: “Okay I’m literally balling my eyes out right now… So grateful for my friends and fan’s support.. Wow… So happy, so blessed…”
Demi wrote about the significance of the song as a contributing editor for Seventeen magazine: “This song is so special to me because it’s inspired by my journey and the struggles that I’ve dealt with this past year.”
She continued: “I am still on a personal journey dealing with my own issues each and every day, but the best advice I can give to anyone going through a rough patch is to never be afraid to ask for help.”
Skyscraper recounts, in a tone of sincerity, Demi’s descent but also her recovery.
