The place and time of the ceremony were kept secret, but the media reported that the memorial service was held at the Edgwarebury cemetery in Edgware, north London.
Around 150 guests attended the service held in the Jewish tradition which requires that the burial takes place as fast as possible.
Producer and DJ Mark Ronson, Kelly Osbourne, her backing singers and manager were among those present. Osbourne appeared wearing a beehive in tribute to her friend.
Only the singer’s former husband Blake Fielder-Civil wasn’t present today. As he is currently serving a 32-month sentence for theft and possession of weapons, he hasn’t obtained permission to leave the prison. A blow for Fielder-Civil, who was devastated after the loss of his ex-wife.
The singer’s father Mitch Winehouse paid an emotional tribute to his daughter, ending with the words: “Goodnight, my angel. Sleep tight.”
Amy’s rep Chris Goodman told the Daily Mail: “Mitch was funny, he told some great stories from her childhood. It was a celebration. He stressed many times that she had been more content than she had been in years. Mitch paid tribute to a lot of people from Amy’s life.”
Regarding her boyfriend, film director Reg Traviss, he said: “Mitch said that they were very much looking forward to their future together.”
He added: “Mitch’s last words to Amy in his eulogy were “Goodnight my angel. Sleep tight. Mummy and Daddy love you ever so much.””
After the ceremony, the singer was cremated at the Golders Green Crematorium in north London.
The autopsy hasn’t established the exact cause of death and the police have ordered additional toxicology tests. The results will be known in 2-4 weeks.
