Amy Winehouse died from sudden abstinence, family claims

Amy Winehouse struggled with addictions for years but in the past month she is said to have completely given up her habit.

Now, her family claims that when she turned from heavy drinking to complete abstinence she caused a shock to her system.

“Abstinence gave her body such a fright, they thought it was eventually the cause of her death,” a source cited by The Sun says.

According to the insider, the singer’s father Mitch denied initial reports alleging that Amy had been on a bender the night before her death.

“He said doctors had told Amy to gradually reduce her intake of alcohol and to avoid bingeing at all costs. Amy told him she couldn’t do that. It was all or nothing and she gave up completely,” the source says.

“Mitch said the shock of giving up, after everything she had been through over a bad few years, was just too much for her to take.”
