According to the L.A. County Coroner, Russell died from suicide by hanging.
The autopsy found no preliminary traces of drugs or alcohol in his body, the coroners announced. Also, he left no suicide note.
Toxicology tests have been conducted and results will be available in six to eight weeks.
According to reports, Armstrong was facing many problems in recent weeks, both personal and professional.
Besides going through a divorce in which his ex-wife Taylor accused him of verbal and physical abuse, Russell was also dealing with financial problems. All these were chronicled on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which many say added pressure on his shoulders.
“It got really overwhelming,” Russell said in an interview with People weeks before his death. “When you get a TV show involved and all the pressure, it just takes it to a whole new level. … We were pushed to extremes.”
“Russell was a guy who always had multiple business deals going at all times,” his attorney told People soon after learning of his suicide. “He was a good networker. But as a couple, they lived way beyond their means.”
“Each month was a challenge for him to cover their lifestyle. Russell was in a lot of debt and he had legal problems. His credit cards were used up.”
