While presenting his CNN show called The Ridiculist, Anderson Cooper evoked the past trouble of French actor Gerard Depardieu who urinated on the floor of a Cityjet plane before takeoff.
As he continued to joke about the shameful event which involved the French actor, Cooper couldn’t help but giggle for several minutes, unable to keep a straight face when he mentioned the incident. The journalist’s text was full of puns of all kinds, not necessarily the finest in the circumstances.
On Tuesday night, Depardieu, 62, was on a CityJet plane, a subsidiary of Air France-KLM group, flying on the route Paris-Dublin. Asking to use the bathroom, he was told he had to wait until takeoff but he couldn’t hold it.
Witnesses said that the actor offered to clean up the mess but that the company removed him from the flight.
Since the incident, Depardieu has apologized in a statement on his behalf to the French press, given by his traveling companion on that flight, actor Edouard Baer.
“Gerard was upset at this and offered to clean up the mess. He has prostate problems and it was very worrying and humiliating for him,” the statement read.
“He was also stone-cold sober at the time. This is not the way he usually behaves.”
Gérard Depardieu is known in the United States for having starred in several Hollywood blockbusters and being nominated at the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes.
