Amy Winehouse Foundation donations returned by father Mitch due to dispute over name

At Amy’s funeral, Mitch announced that he intended to start a foundation to help young people struggling with drink and drug addictions, asking for donations to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

However, as he doesn’t own the rights or have a bank account in the name of The Amy Winehouse Foundation, his plans are now delayed.

“Instead of concentrating on allocating funding, I am having to send cheques back cos (because) we don’t haven’t got bank ac (account) in that name,” Mitch wrote on Twitter.

“We all have to bombard the tabloids websites to put pressure on this d*** h*** who stole our foundation name. Our solicitors are all over this, but it takes time. Meanwhile we can’t get on with foundation.”

Amywinehousefoundation.org.uk is currently registered to an internet user called “sghuk”, who bought it on 16 August 2011.

Meanwhile Amywinehousefoundation.com has also been purchased and amywinehousefoundation.org was registered by Hertfordshire’s Anthony Webb-Jobes on 31 July 2011, according to the Guradian.

The family may bring legal action against the owner of the name.
