Stan Lee claims Conan the Barbarian character rights

Stan Lee is asking for 100% of the proceeds from the new “Conan the Barbarian” movie as he insists that his company, Stan Lee Media, bought the rights over the franchise in 2000.

Lee claims that his former lawyer illegally sold the rights to the character without his knowledge to another company that later gave the green light to make the new Conan movie, which grossed $10 million over the weekend.

According to the complaint, Lee’s company went bankrupt in 2001.

Hence the transfer of the Conan character is unavailable since at that time in 2002, “the shares of Conan Properties and all other assets of SLMI were part of a bankruptcy estate and protected from unauthorized transfer by the automatic bankruptcy stay.”

Stan Lee is asking for all the proceeds from the new flick.
