Her death came two days after Jonah’s 6-year-old son, Max, fell from the stairs. He died several days later in hospital.
Zahau, 32, was found naked, hanging by a makeshift noose in pharmaceutical tycoon Johah Shacknai’s mansion in Coronado , Calif. , on July 13, with her hands and feet bound.
Zahau’s family has hired a lawyer and plan to prove that the cause of death was homicide.
“We her family and friends do not believe it’s a suicide. There are still unanswered questions,” Rebecca’s sister, Mary Zahau-Loehner, said. “It is very suspicious and we would like the police to look further into her case. We want justice and are here to represent our sister and daughter.”
Mary Zahau-Loehner added that investigators explained they didn’t have enough evidence to suggest otherwise.
“This would be the first case in the history of the world that a woman killed herself like this,” Bremner, the attorney, said. “It’s ridiculous on the face of it.”
Zahau-Loehner added that she spoke to her sister the night before her death. Rebecca told her she was going to bring Shacknai breakfast and clothes the next morning to the hospital where his son was being treated.
“Too detailed planning for someone who’s planning to end their life that night,” Zahau-Loehner said
