As she is due next month, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy revealed that her first concern is not to expose her child to the media.
“I will never show a photograph of this child and will never expose it [to publicity] […],” Bruni said, as cited by the Huffington Post. “My eldest son was exposed once and not in a public situation but in a private situation and it was a great error. I should never have taken my son to visit this magnificent site. I should have foreseen that there would be photographers there. I was careless.”
“You don’t have a child for the [photo] gallery,” she said, according to People, arguing that her “position as the wife of the head of state has made me even more defensive. I understand the media interest, and I don’t see any inconvenience in it for myself or my husband, but when it concerns the children, it’s not impossible.”
“I will do everything to protect this infant, and I’ll be absolutely rigorous. I will never show photos of this child. I will never expose this child,” in what she called “an adult choice.”
The former model also claimed that she doesn’t know the sex of her unborn child.
“A boy?” she said, regarding media speculation that the baby is a boy. “I don’t know myself, so the press knows better than I do.”
This will be the second child for Carla as she is also the mother of 11-year-old son Aurelian, from her relationship with Raphael Enthoven.
Regarding her husband, Nicolas Sarkozy and his political career, she said that she doesn’t known whether he will take part in the next French presidential election in 2012.
