Jack Nicholson’s Hollywood house destroyed by fire

Rescuers were initially called for a brush fire shortly before 8pm , but they eventually had to confront the burning of a large property. Two firefighters were injured.

No less than 90 firefighters and several helicopters were needed to control the flames and prevent them from spreading into the surrounding forest.

The 120 square meters house on two floors dates from 1950. Nicholson had bought it in 1973, but lived there only two years. He has since rented it out and now lives a couple miles away on Mulholland Drive.

William O’Farrell and William Tynan, actors who co-starred Nicholson in The Two Jakes, were the current renters of the estate. They were uninjured in the fire.

Fire officials have said the house is a “total loss.”
