John Mayer forced to cancel tour, album plans due to throat condition

Mayer took to his blog to explain that despite months of “week to week monitoring”, he’s “bummed” to report that he must bow out of the planned appearances at the iheartradio Music Festival in Las Vegas and his appearance with Tony Bennett in Los Angeles .

“This is a temporary setback,” the New York-based singer-songwriter wrote. “Though I’m not sure how long or short a period of time it will be. I’ve got the best doctors in the country looking after me and I will be singing and touring again as soon as I get the all clear.”

Due to his condition, Mayer also had to postpone the release of his fifth studio album, Born and Raised.

“Born and Raised is complete as far as music recording, song selection, and in some cases mixing, but because of this condition I couldn’t finish singing on several of the tracks,” he wrote on his blog. “This means the record will be released next year instead of this fall or winter.”
