Ellen DeGeneres calls 911 after suffering from chest pains, currently doing fine

Ellen said she felt “tightness and heaviness” in her chest Sunday night. But she went back to sleep and the next morning, the pain started all over again

Her condition was considered serious enough so that a team member called the emergency, which sent an ambulance immediately.

The 53-year-old is better now and has been seen walking without assistance after the ambulance left.

In a statement a few hours after the event, the comedian ensured that all is well, not forgetting to poke a little fun at the situation.

“The paramedics were strippers that I had called. That’s how the rumors got started,” she joked. “I woke up in the middle of the night….[feeling] like something was heavy on my chest and it was a cat, so I moved it. I still felt the tightness and heaviness, so there was another cat under that cat. There were two cats on my chest.”

In addition, DeGeneres took the opportunity to thank the medical team.

“It’s better to be safe than sorry. Who doesn’t want to see a fireman occasionally?” she said. “I want to say thank you to all the paramedics and the nurses who showed up…I appreciate it.”
