Paul McCartney tied the knot for the third time

The singer, 69, and his girlfriend of four years Nancy Shevell, 51, heiress to a wealthy American entrepreneur, said “I do” at the Old Marylebone Town Hall , which was opened especially for the event.

The bride wore a flower in her black loose hair, a long-sleeved, knee-length ivory dress and shoes by the musician’s designer daughter, Stella McCartney, who also tailored the groom’s navy blue suit.

The other surviving Beatle, Ringo Starr, arrived shortly before the ceremony with his wife, actress Barbara Bach, as well as family and close friends of the couple.

Following the ceremony, which lasted over an hour, the couple, smiling and relaxed,, came out of the town hall to the cheers of some 300 fans who had gathered for the occasion, and headed to the reception on board a brown Lexus.

The celebration will continue with a party this evening at McCartney’s home, where guests will feast on vegetarian items including arugula and basil salad, goat cheese polenta, savory tarts, and dumplings.

Two wedding cakes – one traditional and one vegan – have been prepared for the occasion by Posh Puds Patisserie.

Nancy Shevell had been married for 20 years to lawyer Bruce Blakeman, with whom she has a 19-year-old son. Member of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York , she is also Vice-President of a trucking company headed by her father.

In 1969, at the same location, Paul McCartney married photographer Linda Eastman, who died of breast cancer in 1998.

Shortly after her death, an inconsolable McCartney married model Heather Mills, with whom he has a daughter. But the couple’s marriage ended in a nasty divorce in 2008.
