Kris Humphries seeks annulment, not divorce from Kim Kardashian

Twitter

Through his lawyer, Kris Humphries said he no longer wishes to divorce but to simply annul the marriage that lasted a mere 72 days.

“There’s a clear conflict if one spouse is seeking a divorce, but the other wants an annulment,” says family law attorney Scott Weston. “A judge will have to decide which to allow, which could take many months.”

Filing for an annulment of union, rather than a divorce, could mean that the marriage was never valid.

According to the documents filed by Humphries, if he is denied an annulment, he can go for a legal separation.

The papers also show that Kris marked the box reading “nullity of voidable marriage” and checked the box saying “fraud” as the basis.

TMZ reports that Kim initially wanted an annulment, but filed for divorce after being told it was her only legal option.

“She always wanted an annulment but attorneys were against it so she’s happy that both parties agree now,” a source tells People.

iOS 5.1 beta fails to resolve battery drain issues

Apple originally intended to address an apparent issue in connection with location based services that automatically check location without the user’s intention for them to do so and consequently lead to battery drain.

Apparently, the update did fix the battery problem but only for a small number of users.

However, since this is a beta release there are hopes that the final version of the software will be the one to fix the battery issue.

Did you update to iOS 5.1 beta? Are you still experiencing battery drain?

Michael Jackson trial: Conrad Murray sentenced to four years in prison

“He violated the trust of the medical community, of his colleagues and of his patient,” said Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor, “and he has absolutely no sense of remorse, absolutely no sense of fault, and is and remains dangerous.”

Prosecutors also claimed $ 100 million in compensation for the Jackson family for the loss of income caused by the star’s death.

The judge established that Murray , 58, will have to pay MJ’s kids for the loss of their father, but the amount would be decided at a subsequent hearing, scheduled for January 23.

Cries of joy were heard from a few dozen Jackson fans who were present yesterday morning to hear the judge’s decision.

Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine, and his siblings, Jermaine and LaToya, were present in court to hear the sentencing of Dr. Murray.

“We’re not here to seek revenge. There is nothing that you can do today that will bring back Michael,” Jackson family attorney Brian Panish told the court at a sentencing hearing.

Murray didn’t take the stand, but in a documentary interview conducted before the verdict he said, “I don’t feel guilty because I did not do anything wrong.”

iPhone 5 with 4-inch screen reportedly arriving in March

Latest reports say the upcoming device will have a 4-inch LCD touch screen, an increase of 0.5 inches on the current iPhone 4S, which confirms rumors that Steve Jobs was working on a “radical redesign” of the iPhone up until shortly before his death in October.

Citing reliable sources, Japanese blog Macotakara claims that Hitachi Displays and Sony Mobile Display will merge with Toshiba Mobile Display to form Japan Display in the spring of 2012.

The site also writes that the two companies have begun shipping the displays for a “new iOS device” and they are also said to be working on screens for the iPad 3.

Earlier this month, iLounge reported that the iPhone 5 will be 8mm longer and it will have an aluminium metal case.

Japanese publication Nikkei Business now writes that the iPhone 5 and iPad 3 will also feature LTE 4G technology.

LTE stands for “Long-Term Evolution” and it ensures higher download and upload speeds compared to 3G technologies. However, it currently causes short battery life, an issue Apple promised to address in the near future.

In addition, the Cupertino company is said to be adding NFC (Near Field Communications) to the device next year.

The current smartphone market only has about 10 percent adoption of NFC technology but Apple plans to increase the adoption from 10% to 50% in the span of a few years.

Reports also anticipate that the number of NFC-based mobile wallet users will grow to 594 million in 2016.

iOS 5.1 beta contains references to iPhone 5, iPad 3

Soon after its release, developers have found intriguing codenames suggesting that much-awaited Apple products will soon appear.

Thus, the iOS 5.1 code contains references to the iPhone 5 and 2 iPads, internally named iPhone 5,1, iPad 2,4 and iPad 3,3, respectively.

Given that the iPhone 4S was previously listed internally as iPhone 4,1, this reference to iPhone 5,1 could cite the next-generation iPhone model.

The code also lists a new device called J33, which many believe is the future Apple TV box that connects the TV set to the Internet.

The data doesn’t give precise details regarding new devices, but it can help form an idea of Apple’s future release schedule.

Beyoncé responds to fake pregnancy rumors, fuels more controversy

The singer has recorded a 30-second video in which she denies the false pregnancy rumors. Beyoncé appears holding the Daily News in her hands and pointing to the front page title “Oh Baby.” She also shows off a side view of her baby bump.

However, it seems that instead of settling the facts, the clip actually casts more doubt on the pregnancy.

Beyoncé says the video is shot on September 23 and that she is 6 months pregnant. Now that would mean the 30-year-old should give birth in December and not February 2012 as she has stated so far.

The Beyoncé conspiracy theorists are fidgeting again.
