iPhone 5 release date: rumors and marketing strategy so far

An advantageous robbery

This past year, we could say that Apple has kept its customers in a state of surprise as far as the iPhone 5 is concerned.

Back in July, it was reported that a prototype of a future iPhone has been lost by an Apple employee in a bar, just over a year after a similar episode.

Apple promptly contacted the police and tracked the terminal that led to a young man in his 20s living in the neighborhood of Bernal Heights .

The man admitted he had been at the respective bar on the fateful night. However, he denied having any connection with the disappearance of the smartphone which was later sold for $ 200 to a website.

But don’t be sad over Apple’s loss as some speculate the entire episode could have been orchestrated by the Cupertino company. Is it pure coincidence that the hype around the theft was created in the period leading to what many believed was going to be the release of the iPhone 5, or is it simply a very well thought marketing strategy?

And while Apple made no announcement of the theft, Jose Valle, the owner of the bar in question, admitted that he had received several calls from a man asking about a lost iPhone.

iPhone 5 rumored features

In the following weeks, numerous rumors about possible iPhone 5 features swarmed on the net.

According to reports, the gadget is rumored to give up the glass back in favor of an aluminum shell as the original iPhone model which was released in 2007.

This design change would mean that Apple has abandoned the concept of an external antenna, which causes some reception problems with all iPhone 4 models.

As for the technical specifications, most experts speculated that the model will have a slightly larger screen than its predecessor, with a diagonal of about 4 inches, as against 3.5 for existing models. The screen size would be similar to a Samsung S Galaxy Nexus or Google S.

Also, there is talk of a dual-core A5 processor and a camera with a resolution of 8 megapixels.

In addition, Apple is expected to unveil a 4G iPhone to respond to competitors in the LTE smartphone market.

Other rumors circulating on specialized websites indicate the existence of a prototype of the iPhone 5 which has a retractable sliding keyboard. The device would then look like an iPhone 4 but under which it would be possible to drag a physical keyboard.

iPhone 5 to appear in 2012, until then iPhone 4S is what you get

While many were disappointed with the release of the iPhone 4S instead of the iPhone 5, Apple lift spirits by unveiling its latest updated iOS 5.

The revolutionary brand decided to make available the new update for the operating systems of iPhone, iPad and iPod: iOS 5.

The update brought 200 new features, among which the most notable are the Notification Center , fully customizable, the arrival of a unified messaging application iMessage, the new application reminder, which makes sure that you remember important tasks and can even alert you depending on your location.

When Steve Jobs passed away in October, Rodman & Renshaw analyst Ashok Kumar believed that the next iPhone would represent “the last project that Steve Jobs was intimately involved with from concept to final design.”

“For that reason … this product will establish the high water mark for iPhone volumes,” he wrote.

The analyst added that from the concept to the final design Jobs followed “closely” all the steps, which should make it a “cult classic” at the time of its release which many assume to be 2012

Apple is said to be in the process of ordering “volumes for keyparts and components” according to DigiTimes, for next-generation devices, including the iPhone 5 and iPad 3.

Sources claim that the next generation iPad 3 will arrive in stores in Q3, the July to September quarter, of 2012.

As for the iPhone 5, DigiTimes claims that the device is unlikely to be revealed until “the second half of 2012” and that it would be redesigned completely.
