Since Apple’s iOS 5.0.1 failed to offer a solution to iPhone 4S battery issues, users have been anxiously waiting for the update to the operating system.
However, a German tech site claimed that iOS 5.0.2 requires more testing before it can be released.
Macerkopf.de said that the update will be delayed to fix “address-based memory leaks,” or bugs that cause apps to consume memory without releasing resources once they are no longer needed.
The iOS 5.0.2 update is rumored to offer 10 hours of active use, 200 hours of standby time, up to 8 hours of 3G talk time, 6 hours of 3G Internet use, 10 hours of video playback, or 40 hours of audio playback.
Besides battery issues, the iOS 5 update is reportedly creating some Wi-Fi related problems.
Users have reported having problems with their WiFi connectivity, saying the device is either unable to connect to WiFi networks, or if connected to maintain these connections.
While it is still unconfirmed by Apple, the issue has affected a number of devices, including the iPhone 4S, 4 and 3GS, along with the iPad and the iPod Touch.
Reports say Apple is currently working on two versions of the iPad 3.
The devices are reportedly codenamed J1 and J2, but the Cupertino company hasn’t decided yet which model to launch.
The latter is believed to be the Retina Display version which could mean that the new iPad will require two light bars.
That would imply an increase in the iPad 3’s thickness by 8%. To address this issue of thickness, Apple suppliers produced a display that uses just one light bar, but combines two LED chips instead of one.
This means the device would maintain both a thinner design but also the Retina Display.
According to reports, Samsung, Sharp and LGD are at work producing high resolution Retina Display panels for the iPad 3.
App maker FlyScreen has released “SuperFly API” for Android.
All Android apps can integrate with the service once the API will be publicly released through 5 lines of codes.
In the beginning, the SuperFly notifications will appear as they are by default on iOS 5 and Android, that is an icon and text. However, in the future they are set to become more interactive.
The notifications lockscreen will be a part of the redesigned FlyScreen app for Android once it goes live.
CEO Itamar Weisbrod announced recently that there are “more big apps to come soon” and that they currently have some “big ones” in testing.
