iPhone 5, iPad 3 to feature 4G LTE in 2012

Nikkei Business reports that the company’s CEO Tim Cook met with executives at NTT DoCoMo, a Japanese wireless carrier, to talk about the date when the devices will be available.

The two companies have reportedly reached a deal to bring a 4G LTE-equipped iPad 3 with to Japan in the summer of 2012 and the iPhone 5, with 4G connectivity as well, in the fall.

However, according to the Wall Street Journal, NTT Docomo denied the reports, saying there is no agreement between the two companies.

An NTT Docomo spokesman said the company is “not in any specific talks” with Apple.

Meanwhile, Japanese blog Macotakara writes that Hitachi and Sony have begun shipping the first 4-inch LCDs for use in “a new iOS device.”

The news confirms previous reports saying the iPhone 5 will be 8mm longer than the current iPhone 4S and that it will sport a new 4-inch screen.
