German Mac site Macerkopf cites two sources that claim Apple is testing quad-core CPU’s in order to see the viability of a quad-core iPhone.
The site also writes that two iPhone models are being tested at present, one equipped with a dual-core, the other with a quad-core processor.
In addition, the company is said to be developing quad-core A6 as successors to its current A5 and A4 chips.
Also under testing are various screen resolutions, including those of 1280 x 720p and 1440 x 800p, perhaps as a reaction to competitors such as Android already using a 1,280 x 720 resolution on some of its devices.
NFC is reportedly being tested by Apple as well as it is also slated for inclusion in the next-generation iPhone.
