iOS 5.0.1 update makes iPhone 4 Siri port legally possible

iOS 5 hacker MuscleNerd tweeted Friday that the iOS 5.0.1 update includes Siri-related system files that were previously encrypted, making it possible to extract the necessary files for a Siri port without infringing on Apple’s copyright.

MuscleNerd said, “to clarify: wide open for inspection from a Mac/PC…not wide open security wise 🙂 Can get Siri files and such without piracy”.

He added, “it’s the first public 4S ipsw where the main filesystem keys are obtainable (due to non-encrypted ramdisks).”

This meams that hackers now have the possibility to make Siri legal on older Apple devices.
