In anticipation of the future iPhone 5, analysts are already predicting a future partnership between Apple and Corning, especially with the presentation of Gorilla Glass 2.
“The thinner Gorilla Glass 2 enables slimmer and sleeker devices, brighter images, and greater touch sensitivity,” a press release from Corning states.
The new Gorilla Glass is up to 20% thinner than the original but it still offers the same strength.
Used for the first time in mass production with the release of the first iPhone in 2007, the first generation of Gorilla Glass was a real bestseller that fits all generations of iPhone.
Thanks to its strength and scratch resistance, smartphones, TVs and even PCs now feature Gorilla Glass 2.
Currently, about 30 major brands of electronic products work with Corning, using the technology in no less than 500 million devices across the globe.
