iPhone 5 components: Apple starts testing possible components for next iPhone

According to AppleInsider, investment firm Barclays reported Wednesday that Apple is expected to use Qualcomm’s “MDM9615″ LTE chip which allows for both voice and data over LTE, among other things.

The report also stated that the iPhone 5 will be a “world device compatible with a variety of 4G LTE networks,” similar to the iPhone 4S.

The new iPad comes in two models that are compatible only with AT&T and Verizon 4G LTE networks.

Besides Qualcomm, companies such as Skyworks Solutions, TriQuint Semiconductor and Avago Technologies are also rumored to be among Apple’s potential suppliers.

Barclays also estimates that the next-gen iPhone will arrive in September or October of this year, a year after the launch of the iPhone 4S.

A recent report by Reuters states that the iPhone 5 will have a bigger 4.6-inch “retina” display and will be launched around Q2 of 2012.
