Rumors of a Lexus GS-F that would rival the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG are rife again.
In a recent interview with Autocar, Lexus product planning chief Karl Schlicht said that the LF-LC’s chances of entering production are 50/50.
“A decision has not been taken,” he said. “But we’re now up to a 50 per cent chance from a zero per cent one. Every top Toyota Motor Company manager is aware of the great reception it has received and now we’re talking about how we can do it and fit it into the product plan.”
The GS-F is expected to get a 450-hp 4.6 liter V10, a downsized version of the V10 engine that powers the LFA supercar.
“With a GS-F, we would have a solid pyramid structure of performance models,” Schlicht said.
He also revealed that the new GS will inspire the new IS.
“The new GS leads to the new IS,” he said. “We need a new one.”
