Fergie told Access Hollywood that despite “talks” about her joining the show, she isn’t interested for now.
“I know there were talks last season and this season,” she said. “But it’s just not – Simon said before, timing is everything and it’s not the right time for me.”
“I mean, I love Simon and I love the show. It’s just that last year, nor this year, do I have the time to commit to that sort of commitment because I would be somebody who would really throw myself into it, as I do with all my projects … It’s just not fair to the contestants and their careers — that’s their career — to not be full in,” she explained.
Fergie revealed that she plans on focusing more on her home life.
“I’m starting to decorate my house and look at art and do those things,” she said. “It’s a little more girlie right now for me. Creative energy is always going to be there because that’s just in my blood, that’s just who I am — but it’s just channeled differently.”
Since the end of the show’s first season, Cowell has given up host Steve Jones and judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul.
Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and Britney Spears have since been rumored as possible replacements.
