iPhone 5 rumors: Texas Instruments working on iPhone 5 chip, launch date rumored for September

Texas Instruments, a supplier for Apple that provides particular components for the iPhone 4S and the new iPad, is rumored to have started production of a chip power management for the iPhone 5.

The rumor comes from RepairLabs who states that their source has “proven extremely reliable in the past.”

The website also cites Chinese sources saying that the iPhone 5 would be released in September, a month earlier than last year’s October release for the iPhone 4S.

In addition, the insiders claim that the handset will feature a larger screen that “will indeed be larger than the current 3.5 inch model,” and that the team at Texas Instruments dubbed the next iPhone, the “iPhone 5”.

Recent rumors claim that Apple is working on a 5-inch Retina Display device set for launch in 2013.
