iPhone 5 rumors: Apple is looking to gain control over iPhone5.com domain

According to Fusible, the Cupertino tech giant has filed a claim with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) as it looks to gain control of the iPhone5.com domain.

Presently, the respective domain hosts a forum where subjects regarding the iPhone 5 are discussed.

MacRumors writes that Apple only gained control of iPhone4.com a year after the device arrived on the market and the iPhone4S.com was acquired several weeks after that its October launch.

The site notes that Apple’s effort to gain control over the iPhone5.com domain seems somewhat strange, taking into account the company’s tradition of securing domain names for its products only after their launch.

Recent reports speculate that the iPhone 5 is likely to arrive in the fall, a year after the release of the iPhone 4S.
