Nikon D600 could feature Aptina sensor technology

Italian site MarsicaLive writes that Aptina Imaging confirmed that it was working on a large-format image to be used with dSLRs.

The site also writes that there is speculation that the sensor is being designed specifically for Nikon.

This isn’t the first collaboration for the two companies as the Nikon V1 mirrorless camera already uses one of Aptina’s sensors.

CNET editor Shawn Low speculates that Aptina sensors are usually used by some OEM camera manufacturers since they offer the same quality at high ISO settings as traditional backside-illuminated (BSI) varieties despite their cheap price.
