Demi Lovato to join Britney Spears, Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid as judges on The X Factor

Lovato will join Britney Spears, L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell on the Beacon Theatre stage. The confirmation was made Monday in New York City, at the network’s upfront presentation.

“I’m so excited about this whole experience,” Britney Spears said. “It’s going to be so much fun and so different from anything I’ve ever done. I’m ready to find a true star.”

Lovato and Spears will replace Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, the two judges on the first season.

“I’m absolutely delighted that Britney and Demi are joining us,” said Simon Cowell.

“Britney Spears remains one of the biggest stars in the world, she’s talented, fascinating – and I believe she knows exactly how to spot The X Factor,” he continued.

“Demi’s had an amazing career in music, TV and film for someone her age. She’s young, confident, and enthusiastic,” he added.

“It’s important that she speaks to our younger audience. The new panel will be dynamic and will work really well with the changes to the show.”

Britney will earn $ 15 million for one season, a deal the singer accepted a few weeks ago.

Another choice would have been Fergie, but despite “talks” the singer said that she’s not interested, shooting down rumors that she had agreed to be a part of the jury.

“I know there were talks last season and this season,” the singer said. “But it’s just not – Simon said before, timing is everything and it’s not the right time for me.”

“I mean, I love Simon and I love the show. It’s just that last year, nor this year, do I have the time to commit to that sort of commitment because I would be somebody who would really throw myself into it, as I do with all my projects … It’s just not fair to the contestants and their careers — that’s their career — to not be full in,” she said.

Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Britney Spears have since been rumored as possible replacements.
