Billboard Music Awards 2012: Adele is the big winner of the gala

Adele has been rewarded with 12 awards, of the 18 nominations received, grace to her album called “21”.

British artist which has not been present at the gala held Sunday at Las Vegas, has imposed at the categories including “Top artist”, “Top Female Artist” and “Top Hot 100 Artist”.

LMFAO group was present at the gala and was awarded at six categories, including “Top Duo/Group” and song of the year for “Party Rock Anthem”. They have opened the gala with an interpretation of their hits “Party Rock Anthem” and “Sexy And I Know It”.

They were followed on stage by Chris Brown, who he danced on the rhythms of his song “Turn Up The Music”.

Katy Perry performed her latest single, “Wide Awake”, while Justin Bieber, one of the big winners of the gala in 2011, performed song “Boyfriend”.

R & B singer Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and rappers Wiz Khalifa won in the categories R&B artist of the year, male artist of the year and top new artist.

Woman of the Year Award was received by Taylor Swift. Katy Perry was rewarded with the Spotlight Award, as she is the only singer in history which succeeded to have five songs from the same album which have reached on the first position in Billboard. Michael Jackson is the only artist who succeeded this performance in the past.

Stevie Wonder, 62, was awarded with Icon Award and sang three songs: “Higher Ground” ,” Superstition” and “Overjoyed “- a duet with Alicia Keys.

At the Billboard Music Awards 2012 gala was celebrated artists who died in the first months of year.

An emotional moment of the gala was tribute pay to Whitney Houston, who died at the age of 48, in February.The singer received posthumously Millennium Award, while John Legend and Jordin Sparks sang two songs in her memory – “The Greatest Love of All” and “I Will Always Love You”.

The singer sister in law, Patricia Houston, and her daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, climbed on stage to receive the prize.

At the beginning of the show, event presenters, Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell, kept a moment of silence in memory of singer Robin Gibb, one of the Bee Gees group members, who had died Sunday after a long battle with cancer.

Natasha Bedingfield had pay tribute to Donna Summer, who died of lung cancer last week, performing a famous song of the singer , “Last Dance”.

Wiz Khalifa honored Adam MCA Yauch, a member of the Beastie Boys, who had died in early May because of cancer, and Cee Lo Green sang with his hip-hop group Goodie Mob the song “Fight For Your Right”, in memory of Yauch.
