iPhone 5 rumors: 4-inch screen would maintain single-hand operability

Competing smartphones with screens of 4.3 – 4.7 inches become very uncomfortable when they are held and using them becomes difficult as the diagonal increases.

KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who yesterday stated that the iPhone 5 will have a screen of 4.08 inches and a thickness of 7.9 mm plus a FaceTime HD camera, now speculates that the device would still be usable with one hand even if its height increases by 26%.

The future iPhone would be 10 mm higher and this would still allow users to use it with one hand.

Kuo says that Apple sees the single-handed use of the iPhone as “very seriousy” and plans to maintain this feature in the next device.
