Microsoft rumored to release Xbox media tablet

Details of a Microsoft tablet called Xbox Surface come from Microsoft news blog LiveSide.net and the site Shifted2U.com.

The sites report that the device could feature a 7-inch screen with a 1280 x 720 resolution, SD card support and a 3.1 GHz processor.

According to Mary Jo Foley at CNET, the Xbox Surface could be related to the Xbox SmartGlass project, which was unveiled at E3 by which Microsoft intends to connect Xbox Live to Android, iPhone and Windows Phone apps.

The report notes that the Xbox Surface would feature an ARM processor, a custom IBM engine for “scale out” and it would offer up to seven-hour battery life.
