iPhone 5 rumors: new dock connector to be compatible with micro-USB?

Gizmodo has come up with an interesting theory according to which this new port connector could be compatible with the standard micro-USB.

Apple has reportedly signed a document by which they comply with the European Union directive to standardize chargers around micro-USB.

This means that users will be able to charge an iPhone using any charger that is compatible with the standard micro-USB.

As for the incompatibility of other accessories, a converter such as the one presented in the image below, imagined by Italian blog Mela, would allow users to continue using old accessories having a 30-pin dock connector.
