“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,” Holmes’s lawyer Jonathan Wolfe said. “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”

Cruise’s rep released a statement to People: “Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy.”

The 33-year-old actress cited the standard “irreconcilable differences” and demanded a “suitable amount” of child support from Cruise, TMZ reports.

The site also writes that Katie asks for a division of property in her filings, but makes no mention of their prenup.

The actress is the one who filed for divorce on June 28 in New York.

She reportedly filed for sole custody of the couple’s 6-year-old daughter Suri.

The site writes that Cruise is believed to have “not seen” the divorce coming and according to sources, it was his absence that had started to bear on his wife and daughter.

Holmes and Cruise, 49, married in a lavish ceremony at an Italian castle in November 2006.
