According to Digitimes, who obtained the information from a source within Pegatron, the future smartphone has already entered production in one of the company’s Shanghai factories.
The news contradicts earlier reports claiming that the new iPhone is still being tested and is about a month away from going into production.
Pegatron, along with Foxconn, is one of Apple’s most important suppliers for the iPhone.
The Taiwanese company is expected to reduce shipments of notebooks sequentially in the third quarter 2012 because the orders for the next iPhone compensate for the loss of that revenue, sources say.
Reuters reported earlier today that next iPhone will feature a smaller dock and a repositioned headphone jack.
