iPhone 5 release date followed by new iPod Touch and iPod Nano launch in September

According to a new report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo relayed by MacRumors, the new iPhone and iPod touch will be presented in late September.

Both iPod touch and nano haven’t received any major upgrades since last year.

Kuo wrote that the iPod nano will ditch its current square form in favor of the old rectangle design.

The device, he says, will come with a larger touch screen and a Home button at the bottom of the device, similar to the iPhone.

The analyst estimates that the new iPod nano will get better sales than the iPod touch as supplies of the new iPod touch will be constrained due to the move to the new in-cell technology.

“Though all new design iPod touch and iPod nano will be launched, growth momentum will mainly come from the latter. The new iPod touch, like iPhone 5, uses in-cell panel, whose availability is limited in the initial stage. Shipments will therefore be hindered,” Kuo told investors.

In addition, Japanese Apple blog Macotakara reports that the iPod touch will feature a dual-core A5 processor like the iPhone 4S and aluminum back similar to the iPad.

The site claimed that the iPod touch might also include in-cell touch display technology.

The report also stated that there is a hole at the bottom back of the device, but its function is yet uncertain.
