iPhone 5 teardown by iFixit hours after it launches

The first part to be detached was the screen assembly from its rear housing.

The home button sits inside a metal support bracket, which might make it less likely to break.

The battery on the new iPhone is 3.8V, 5.45Wh, or 1440mAh unit and it’s bigger than the one on its predecessor.

The site notes that the battery can last about eight hours on 3G and at least one charge during the day is necessary.

The device comes with 1GB of RAM and a Qualcomm MDM9615M 4G chip that supports the LTE, HSPA+, EV-Do Rev B and TD-SCMA connectivity.

The A6 chip measures a little over one square centimeter while the nano-SIM is almost centimeter wide.

As for reparability rating, the iPhone 5 scores 7 out of 10, making it better than last year’s 4S that got 6 out of 10.

Apple’s new EarPods were also taken apart recently and compared to their predecessors.
