According to an article by the Wall Street Journal that cites unnamed sources “with knowledge of the situation,” Asian suppliers have started mass production of components for the iPad Mini.

The insiders claim that LG and AU Optronics began producing the LCD screens for the device last month.

The handset is rumored to come with a 7.85 inch liquid crystal display, with a lower resolution that the one featured on the iPad 3.

Previous reports stated that the iPad Mini will have a 1024×768 pixel display.

Japanese blog Macotakara recently claimed that the iPad mini had begun production in Foxconn’s factories in Brazil.

Recent rumors suggested that Cupertino is planning on releasing the iPad Mini on October 17 in San Francisco, with a launch on the market in late October.
