Last month a report by Macotakara stated that Apple placed a large order for a sample of carbon fiber at Japanese manufacturer.

The report suggests that Cupertino wants to weave the fiber in a “completely different way” than what other manufacturers have done until now.

The site writes that research on the use of carbon fiber has been in progress in the past three years at Apple.

During this period, Apple and the Japanese carbon fiber manufacturer have been in a partnership.

The rumor can be seen an indicator that the material could be used in future iMacs or iOS products.

Apple’s interest in carbon fiber is also demonstrated by several patent filings by the company.
