iPhone 5 users report glitch with onscreen keyboard

The screen of the new iPhone is flickering when the virtual keyboard is displayed, some users say.

According to AppleInsider, in a growing thread on the Apple Support Communities website, users say the issue appeared since the device went on sale in late September.

YouTube videos showing how the display is affected have also been posted online.

The site writes that the problem only occurs when the handset is in portrait mode and the “.?123” button is pressed in the lower left corner of the keyboard.

The issue also appears when users are prompted to enter their Apple ID password.

Due to the fact that the issue only occurs in such specific circumstances, the site wnotes that the glitch may be a software error, rather than a problem with the 4-inch Retina display on the iPhone 5.
